As the Founder of Sequoia Financial Group, Tom Haught has shaped the firm around a distinctive team-based approach to financial planning services and client relationships. From the firm’s beginning in 1991, his vision has been to create a firm where clients benefit from the collective talents, insight, and dedication of an integrated advisory team. To bring that vision to life, he has focused on building a durable firm comprised of talented professionals who work collaboratively to deliver comprehensive wealth management services to clients. In addition, his vision for growth and durability has spawned a successful integration philosophy that places culture and legacy at the forefront of all M&A activity.

In his role as Chairman & CEO, Tom focuses his time on the long-term enterprise strategy for Sequoia, growth partnerships, and capital allocation and formation. He also works closely with the firm’s executive committee to guide the organization in its work to fulfill the tenets of its Vision 2030 roadmap.

Ever a financial advisor, Tom continues to dedicate time as the strategic advisor for a select group of clients. For more than three decades, he has personally advised clients, and especially business owners, on strategic growth planning. In his work, he has guided individuals and families in realizing their retirement and investment goals and tending to their estate and philanthropic planning needs. Tom has found particular fulfillment in helping family businesses and entrepreneurs navigate complex situations and develop thoughtful plans for the future. This work has provided a foundational underpinning for Sequoia’s core strengths.

In addition to his work at Sequoia, Tom is an active contributor to his profession and community. He has served as a financial planning professor and currently serves on the boards of Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. and Davey Tree. He has been involved with numerous charitable organizations, among them, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Breakthrough Schools, the YMCA Endowment Board of Trustees, and the Spinal Cord Society.

Tom and his wife live in Bath, Ohio, where they raised their three sons. Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an avid skier.
