About Michael
Michael Mordoh is the Vice President and Head of Operations, leading the Research & Operations workstream for M&A integrations. His primary focus is on transitioning new firms to Sequoia’s investment and operations platform, including portfolio management, trading, reporting, and billing. By integrating these workflows seamlessly, he ensures that advisors and clients experience the full scale of Sequoia’s resources and services.
Michael’s favorite part of M&A is building relationships with new colleagues while working collaboratively to enhance Sequoia’s operational efficiency. He thrives on sharing ideas and perspectives that drive the firm forward.
With a career dedicated to wealth management operations, Michael brings a deep understanding of business processes and strategic M&A execution. His experience allows him to quickly assess how an acquired firm operates, identify challenges, and develop action plans to ensure a smooth transition.
One of his notable contributions was leading the Eide Bailly integration, where he successfully unwound their reliance on Symmetry Partners’ Turnkey Asset Management Platform. His strategic approach saved Sequoia $1.5 million annually while ensuring a seamless transition for advisors and clients. Additionally, he played a key role in integrating Zeke’s private funds, an area new to Sequoia, by building a dedicated support function and team.
Michael works closely with advisor leadership, research, compliance, and technology teams, emphasizing cross-functional collaboration to maintain alignment throughout the integration process. He believes that over-communication is crucial in avoiding an “us vs. them” mentality and ensuring transparency.
His advice to those new to M&A integration? Prioritize communication and relationship-building. Establishing open channels early helps keep all teams aligned and fosters a smoother transition.
