About David
David is a Senior Strategic Advisor at Sequoia Financial Group. He is guided by three personal beliefs: life is more about how you live than what you have; there’s a difference between having wealth and living a rich life; and great lives require disciplined thought and bold action. Rooted in this philosophy, he is constantly motivated by the opportunity to make life better for the clients served, the team he is surrounded by, and the community at large.
Previously, David was the CEO of BSW Wealth Partners, a team of Colorado-based wealth advisors, before the firm became part of Sequoia in 2026. Before BSW, he worked with a Colorado venture capital firm and founded a tech company. David is on the advisory board of Charles Schwab, as well as venture capital funds Boulder Ventures, Renewal Funds, and Ethic. He also serves on the board of the American Institute for Avalanche Research & Education (AIARE).
David is a licensed member of the Colorado Bar and graduated from the JD/MBA dual-degree program at the University of Colorado Boulder, an institution he remains deeply connected to. He serves as a board member emeritus at the Leeds School of Business and, more broadly, as a mentor, guest speaker, and scholarship provider for the university.
David shares his life with his wife and son. Together, they enjoy soaking in an onsen, practicing Nihon-go, and sharing life’s adventures. David is also an avid rock climber and ski mountaineer and spends time as a professional mountain guide for the Colorado Mountain School. He has climbed all 58 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks and has traveled extensively to climb mountains around the world.
