AKRON, Ohio – Sequoia Financial Group, LLC (Sequoia), an independent financial services firm based in Akron, Ohio, in conjunction with Cohen & Company and Cohen Fund Audit Services, raised record funds for the second year in a row for Junior Achievement.

Three teams were entered in the annual Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon at Superior Lanes in downtown Cleveland, and more than $4,300 in contributions was raised. This surpasses the firms’ record high achieved in 2013.

John Rodriguez, Senior Manager of Sequoia’s Asset Management Department stated, “It was an honor to dust off the bowling shoes and help raise funds for such a great program like Junior Achievement. The fact that we were able to have some competitive fun and contribute to a great cause made it all worthwhile.”

Bowlers on this year’s Sequoia Financial Group/Cohen & Company/Cohen Fund Audit Services teams included:  John Rodriguez, Chris Bellamy, Joe Fogarty, Ashley Hinkle, Kevin Kray, Julie Lowry, Tammy Portis, Josh Swander, Audrey Taylor, Robert Towne, Rob Velotta and Bonnie Zhang.

The Bowl-a-thon is Junior Achievement’s largest fundraiser. The money generated provides entrepreneurship, financial literacy and career readiness programs to schools and students throughout the community. All proceeds support Junior Achievement programs in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain counties.
