Careers - Internships
Internships at Sequoia
An in-depth look at what to expect during an internship at Sequoia Financial Group:
Interns spend two weeks in each of the following areas: operations (paperwork processing and cash transfers),
financial planning (data entry) and financial analysis (research/asset management). Internship could
lead to a full time position as a financial planner. No cold calling is involved and a clear career
path makes this position unique for the industry. Some examples of work performed include:
- Assist in preparing for client communications and meetings
- Account Update Documents, Assisting Financial Planner with Presentations
- Assist in stock and mutual fund research
- Data gathering, Data input
- Assist in the preparation and follow up on account opening and account transfer paperwork
- Assist Financial Planners in the development of comprehensive Financial Plans
- Assist with client account updates (unique to each client)
- Follow up calls to ValMark, Schwab or mutual fund companies
- Analysis of spreadsheets, including retirement and insurance projections
- Prepare College Calculator projections – research on current college costs as needed
- Schedule client meetings
Requirements:
- GPA of 3.2 or above
- Finance Major – personal finance major preferred. Interest in investments vs. corporate finance
- Junior and Senior Status preferred
Attributes:
- Must be interested in the Comprehensive Financial Planning Process.
- Understanding of Investment Products
- Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Real Estate
- Technically competent in basic computer skills/programs, including MS office
- Must be self motivated with a strong work ethic and dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals.
Hours:
- Flexible between 8:00 am and 6:00pm - Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall
